Fondation pour la Recherche Stratégique

Fondation pour la Recherche Strategique (FRS) – Foundation for Strategic Research – is a non-partisan, non-profit organisation that is fiscally and legally classified as a foundation under French law. As a public-interest foundation, it has two core missions, namely promoting the national public debate on strategic issues related to security and defence and carrying out research works and studies in the field of security and defence with the aim of bringing independent expertise to public and private decision-makers. FRS collaboratively addresses the European dimension of security and defence issues with both European and non-European counterparts.

FRS focusses on three main fields of research, namely high technology, space and security, defence and military issues and the analysis of conflicts. FRS has developed a particular expertise in the field of space studies and has participated in numerous space systems-related conceptual and so-called “technico-operational studies” for the national authorities over the past two decades. FRS has also supported numerous working groups both at the national and at the European levels in relation to the assessment of strategic issues in space applications.

Main project tasks

FRS will bring together the research of all IMPACT Europe consortium partners by formulating a set of policy recommendations. They will also lead research on identifying factors of violent radicalisation, drawing on their expertise.
